Ripple Network uses its native cryptocurrency XRP as its means for real-time gross settlement and remittances.
The ripple XRPUSD price can be unpredictable, yet has immense growth potential due to its utility value. Learn how you can trade XRP to take advantage of its growth potential.
What is Ripple?
Ripple is a company that uses blockchain technology to enhance banking efficiency. Their platform uses a different mechanism than larger public blockchains like Bitcoin or Ethereum for validating transactions: “federated consensus”. Validators, independent servers that validate transactions on Ripple networks, help to validate each transaction on Ripple; as of 2023 there were over 150 validators active across its network with 35 featured in its default unique node list (dUNL).
Due to their technology, Remitly makes currency exchange and remittance transactions possible in seconds without pre-funded accounts – making them partners with many banks such as Santander, Bank of America and American Express.
The company controls most of the 100 billion XRP coins currently in existence and regularly releases them into circulation to maintain price stability, prompting some to speculate that its release schedule artificially props up prices of its token. However, this assertion has been denied by them.
What is XRP?
Ripple Labs Inc of the US created it and it now ranks among the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation.
Transactions on the XRP Ledger can be completed within seconds, unlike bank wire transfers or Bitcoin transactions that may take several hours to verify. Furthermore, XRP also features autobridging which finds the best exchange rate between sending and receiving currencies to help keep costs at a minimum.
The XRP Ledger is a blockchain, but unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum it lacks the underlying architecture that organizes data into linked blocks. As a result, mining for XRP tokens does not occur and instead its supply has been “pre-mined.” As a result of its lack of registration with securities regulators in 2021, Ripple Labs faced legal action from SEC over their sales of XRP which constituted an illegal securities offering.
How do I trade XRP?
You can purchase XRP through exchanges that offer it as a trading pair with US dollars or other fiat currencies, making sure the one you select provides excellent customer support and operates legally in your country.
Once you’ve signed up with a trusted crypto exchange, deposit funds using one of several preferred payment methods – Google Pay/Apple Pay, credit/debit cards or instant crypto deposits to buy XRP instantly (bank wires may take slightly longer).
Once you’ve made your deposit, navigate to the XRP market and place either a sell market order or limit order for immediate fulfillment; sell market orders will be executed at the highest bid price until either fulfilled or the limit reached. It is advised that any XRP purchased from an exchange be transferred into a secure wallet immediately for long-term storage – this will protect it from hacks or theft.
Where can I trade XRP?
The easiest and fastest way to purchase XRP is via a cryptocurrency exchange that supports the XRP/USD pair. After creating an account and verifying your identity (typically by providing documents that verify who you are), navigate directly to the trading interface and find the XRP market.
On the XRP/USD market, you will encounter buy and sell orders from other traders. BTC prices tend to be listed on the left while USD values appear on the right; prices in each case depend on what other traders are willing to offer as buy/sell prices at that moment in time.
